AREAS AFFECTED: Eastland, TX; Palo Pinto, TX; Stephens, TX
DESCRIPTION: At 256 AM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Ranger, moving northeast at 55 mph. HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect considerable tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings. This severe storm will be near... Palo Pinto Mountains State Park around 300 AM CDT. Other locations impacted by this severe thunderstorm include Ivan, Morton Valley, Strawn, Harpersville, Eliasville, and Olden.
INSTRUCTION: A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 400 AM CDT for north central Texas. For your protection stay inside a sturdy structure and keep away from windows.

Freezing rain is a condition where precipitation which has fallen in the form of
water droplets reaches temperatures which are below freezing and freezes upon
coming into contact
with surface objects. The result of this precipitation is a glaze of ice which
can be damaging to plants and man-made structures. A severe onset of freezing
rain which results in a very thick glaze of ice is known as an ice storm.

Hail is a form of precipitation which is recognized by large solid balls or
clumps of ice. Hail is created by thunderstorm clouds with strong updrafts of wind.
