Northwestern Mitchell County in western North Carolina... Yancey County in western North Carolina... * Until 215 PM EDT. * At 117 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 10 miles southeast of Greeneville, or 9 miles south of Tusculum, moving east at 25 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Expect damage to trees and power lines. * Locations impacted include... Burnsville, Bakersville, Buladean, Bandana, Ramseytown, Green Mountain, Swiss, Faust, Allenstand, and Wolf Ridge.
INSTRUCTION: For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Large hail, damaging wind, and continuous cloud to ground lightning are occurring with this storm. Fog is technically a type of stratus cloud, which lies along the
ground and obscures visibility.
It is usually created when humidity in the air condenses into tiny water droplets.
Because of this, some places are more prone to foggy weather, such as regions
close to a body of water.
Fog is similar to mist; both are the appearance of water droplets suspended in
the air, but fog is the term applied to the condition when visibility is less than 1 km.
