AREAS AFFECTED: Douglas, NE; Sarpy, NE; Saunders, NE
DESCRIPTION: ...The National Weather Service in Omaha/Valley NE has issued a Flood Warning for the following rivers in Nebraska... Platte River Near Leshara affecting Sarpy, Saunders and Douglas Counties. * WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Platte River near Leshara. * WHEN...From Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon. * IMPACTS...At 8.5 feet, Significant lowland flooding is occurring as the river is out of its banks. In addition the Papio NRD access site at Highway 64 is flooded. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 9:00 PM CDT Thursday the stage was 6.9 feet...or 1.1 feet below flood stage. - Bankfull stage is 7.5 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage early tomorrow afternoon to a crest of 8.1 feet tomorrow evening. It will then fall below flood stage late Sunday morning. - Flood stage is 8.0 feet.
INSTRUCTION: Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Additional information is available at water.noaa.gov.

A contrail is an artificial cloud, created by the passing of an
aircraft.
Contrails form because water vapor in the exhaust of aircraft engines is suspended
in the air under certain temperatures and humidity conditions. These contrails
are called exhaust contrails.
Another type of contrail can form due to a temporary reduction in air pressure
moving over the plane's surface, causing condensation.
These are called aerodynamic contrails.
When you can see your breath on a cold day, it is also because of condensation.
The reason contrails last longer than the condensation from your breath is
because the water in contrails freezes into ice particles.
